Leadership in Project Management – Multiple Roles we play

The awareness of the individual stakeholders plays a powerful part in how a project is perceived and whether or not it will be a success. I will explore successes and mistakes made in the stakeholder communication on the project progress by use of a group exercise.

The organizational values and practices will influence what is possible in terms of organizational and project process change to move a team towards a mandate. The use of new tools and discussion formats will be explored to highlight the impact of change on the project and what obstacles can be experienced in a turbulent work environment.

There will be a discussion of team member communication and the role that a project manager plays to lead a team through an uncertain and hostile work environment. I will conclude with a discussion on what worked and what did not work to motivate the team.

Learning Objectives:

  • How the perception of the project manager by the team and stakeholders influences project success
  • The importance of accountability and practical application of methods used to promote and foster a functional team
  • Communication tools and messaging guidelines
