W2-215 - BA Tools of the Trade: Process Modeling Techniques
Date: Tuesday, April 15 - Wednesday, April 16 - 8:30am – 4:30pm
Description
Carpenters, Surgeons, Draftsmen, and Business Analysts (BAs). If they want to be true professionals, then they must gain proficiency with the tools of their professions. A BA who can wield only words would be no more “professional” than a carpenter with only a hammer, a surgeon with only a scalpel, or a draftsman with only a pencil.
Business Analysis is all about gaining a working understanding of business processes so we can recommend appropriate improvements, and communicate our stakeholders’ requirements to those who will fulfill them. To do an effective job of this analysis and communication, we must have the right set of tools at our fingertips and become proficient in using them.
This two-day tutorial will start you down the road of stocking your "BA-Tool Belt" with the tools you need to be effective. You will use a variety of process and system modeling techniques, learn when each is appropriate to use, and identify the ones that will be the most effective on the types of projects you undertake.

Gain familiarity with a wide variety of modeling techniques
Understand the value of each modeling technique
Establish a foundation for building expertise with various modeling techniques
